How Our Wool Animals Are Made

Jun 10th 2019

Our artisan partners in Chiapas, Mexico create these masterpieces from leftover scraps of wool. The wool is obtained within the artisan community from their own sheep. It is then washed, carded, spinned and finally dyed. Then it is hand woven using a back strap loom. After the cloth is made, the animal is shaped, hand sewn and stuffed.

All of this is done in the comfort of their homes!

The wool animals come in over 12 different styles and each one has its unique color story.

When you buy a wool animal, you will receive a one-of-a-kind color combination that cannot be found anywhere else. How amazing is that!

Thank you for being a part of our story. Thank you for supporting Lumily and female artisans worldwide.
