About Lumily

One suitcase.A whole world later.

Lumily is a Latina-owned brand bringing colorful handmade bags, jewelry, accessories and home goods from artisan communities around the world into everyday life.

It started in 2009 with a love of handmade and a belief that business could feel a little more human. Today, our broader family reaches 500+ artisans across Guatemala, Mexico, Thailand and Peru.

It started small. Really small.

How it started

Before Lumily had a name,it had a suitcase.

In 2009, our founder Giovanna left corporate America looking for work that felt more meaningful.

While traveling through Mexico and Guatemala, she met artisans creating extraordinary beadwork, textiles and woven goods using techniques passed down through generations. The talent was already there. What was missing was consistent access to a wider market.

Giovanna returned home with a suitcase full of handmade pieces, a lot of hope and no clue just how much work was waiting on the other side.

Lumily grew one order, one trip and one relationship at a time. Seventeen years later, those relationships are still the heart of it.

“I fell in love with the people before I ever built the business.”Giovanna, Founder

What the name means

World + family. Literally.

Lumily was created by blending the ideas of world and family.

It sounded right then. Seventeen years later, it feels almost suspiciously accurate.

What began with a few artisan relationships has grown into a community connected across countries, cultures and generations.

Meet the makers

Every piece has a name behind it.

Not a faceless factory. Not something “artisan-inspired.” An actual person with serious skill, a business and a story of their own.

Made by hand

Handmade leaves clues.

A tiny variation in the stitching, beadwork or weave is not a defect. It is proof that human hands were involved.

Many Lumily pieces take hours or days to complete using techniques learned, practiced and passed down through generations.

That does not mean a product gets a free pass just because it has a meaningful story. It still has to be beautiful, useful and worth bringing home.

The story should make you love it more—not ask you to lower your standards.
That little difference? That’s the good stuff.

Good Fashion. Good Karma.

Fair trade without the corporate fog.

For Lumily, fair trade means building relationships that last longer than one order. It means respecting the time, skill and materials behind the work. It also means never turning artisans into a sad marketing story.

01

Relationships, not transactions

Many Lumily partnerships have grown through years of visits, conversations and collaboration.

02

Craft worth paying for

Handmade work takes time, experience and serious skill. Pricing should respect all three.

03

Tradition with a future

Each purchase helps keep heritage techniques visible, valued and economically sustainable.

“I don’t want anyone to buy from Lumily because they feel sorry for the person who made something. Buy it because it is beautiful, useful and impossible not to love. Knowing who made it should make it mean even more.”Giovanna, Founder

The story keeps growing

The family got a little bigger.

Lumily’s longtime artisan relationships are rooted in Guatemala, Mexico and Thailand.

In 2026, VinLoom brought Peru into the picture and expanded our broader network to more than 500 artisans across four countries.

Peru is the newest chapter, with relationships and stories we will share thoughtfully as they grow.

No pretending everyone has been best friends for 17 years. Trust takes longer than a press release.

Good Fashion. Good Karma.

Come for the color. Stay for the story.

Choose something because it makes you happy, works beautifully and feels like a piece you will keep.

Then love it a little more because there is a whole world of skill, tradition and human hands behind it.
